To enhance your results, we include a chemical peel at the beginning of your treatment. We finish with an enzyme mask which dissolves the dead skin and reduces the amount of flaking you have.

You must wear sunblock following this treatment, and you can't tan immediately after.

Microdermabrasion is a skin resurfacing procedure used in addition to chemical peels, dermabrasion and laser resurfacing.

What is the procedure?
The clinician uses a hand piece connected to a system which disperses an abrasive substance (usually aluminum oxide) in crystalline form. This abrasive substance is pulled from a reservoir, passes through the hand piece and passes back and forth on the skin, abrading it without heat. The used abrasive material and dead skin is vacuumed into a repository for easy removal. Layers of the epidermis are removed and extension into the dermis is possible.

How much penetration is possible?

The depth of treatment is determined by the speed of movement of the hand piece against the skin. The slower the passes the deeper the results.

What should you experience after treatment?
Your skin may feel tight as if it had been exposed to sun or wind. The skin may peel and should be well moisturized with proper products and a strong sunscreen, preferable 15 spf or higher. Some patients may develop slight redness and swelling, especially after a deeper treatment level during the removal of blemished or thicker skin, erythema or a slight redness will occur from a few hours to a few days depending on the skin' sensitivity. It is possible some peeling may last for one or two days.

What are some indications for a treatment of Microdermabrasion and how does it benefit the patient?
The perfect client would be someone with aged skin or sun damaged skin. Microdermabrasion polishes, softens and reduces fine lines on the face shown through facial expressions. Areas most concerned with fine lines and wrinkles are cheeks, forehead, and round the mouth. Treatments will smooth pigment changes like brown spots, pigmentation and melanosis. Acne skin is exfoliated with suctioning unclogging pores leaving the skin refreshed. Acne scars usually require 10 initial treatment visits leaving the skin polished and smoothed. Microdermabrasion enhances poor, dull, congested or thickened skin by gently resurfacing the superficial skin layers.
